-= 2. Introduction -=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Even though it took so many years to produce, the fourth installment of the
Resident Evil series finally was released in 2005. Early that year, the game
saw release on the GameCube, and towards the end, on the PlayStation 2. Both
versions had their strengths and weaknesses; the GameCube version contained
superior graphics and audio over the PlayStation 2 version, which contained
extra features such as Separate Ways, new costumes and weapons and the Movie
Browser.
The Wii version combines the GameCube visuals and audio with the PlayStation
2 extras, and on top of that, new Wii Remote controls that allow for more
accurate aiming, attacking and performing QTE moves using the motion
controls that make the game more intuitive than before. Despite being
originally a GameCube game, Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition, as its called, is
an awesome game that instantly ranks among the Wii's best.

Prologue
========
1998... I'll never forget it.
It was the year when those grisly murders occurred in the Arklay Mountains.
Soon after, the news was out to the whole world revealing that it was the
fault of a secret viral experiment conducted by the International
Pharmaceutical Enterprise, Umbrella.
The virus broke out in a nearby mountain community, Raccoon City.
And hit the peaceful little town with a devastating blow crippling its very
foundation.
Not taking any chances, the President of the United States ordered a
contingency plan - to sterilize Raccoon City.
With the whole affair gone public, the United States government issued an
indefinite suspension of business decree to Umbrella.
Soon its stock prices crashed and for all intents and purposes Umbrella was
finished.
===============
Leon S. Kennedy
===============
Age: 27
"Everything's going to be just fine."
Agent of the U.S. Government. He has been sent to Europe on a solo mission to
rescue the President's kidnapped daughter, Ashley. Leon is one of the few
people who survived the destruction of Raccoon City six years ago.
=============
Ashley Graham
=============
Age: 20
"All right! Here goes nothing."
Daughter of the President of the United States. She was kidnapped by a
mysterious group on the way home from her college in Massachusetts.
Allegedly she has been spotted in a village in Europe, but there has been no
sign of her since!
========
Ada Wong
========
"Long time no see, Leon."
This mysterious woman has been working covertly behind the scenes. She met
Leon during the Raccoon City incident. She was thought to be dead. Now it
would seem that she is alive and working as a spy for an unknown
organization.
=========
Luis Sera
=========
"I'm just a good-for-nothing guy, who just happens to be a ladies' man."
Luis says he's a former cop, like Leon. Yet there's more to this mysterious
Spaniard than meets the eye. There's even a rumor that his grandfather once
lived in the area.
============
Jack Krauser
============
"Enough talk! Time to die, comrade!"
A former colleague of Leon's. Now working for his own unknown objectives.
Presumed dead after an accident two years ago, Jack reappears, with obvious
animosity toward Leon.

-= 4. Controls -=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
There are three ways you can play Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition. You can use
a Wii Remote for motion controls, or you may use a GameCube controller or a
Wii Classic Controller to control the game in the same manner as the earlier
GameCube and PlayStation 2 versions. Of course, the Wii Remote's by far the
most interesting scheme and the whole point of the Wii Edition, but the
control options are still there if you desire the original controls.
Choosing the Controller
-----------------------
To access the game from the Wii menu, you'll have to use the Wii Remote
or Classic Controller to navigate the menu and make your selection. From
here, you may select your controller options.
If you want to use the Wii Remote, plug the Nunchuck into the Wii Remote.
If you want to use the Classic Controller, disconnect the Nunchuck from
the Wii Remote (if you plugged it in) and connect the Classic Controller.
Note that the Classic Controller does not have the rumble feature the
Wii Remote and GameCube controller (excluding the WaveBird) have. To
use the GameCube controller, simply have nothing connected to the Wii
Remote, and make sure the GameCube controller is hooked up to the first
GameCube controller port on the Wii. Note that if you have the Classic
Controller or Nunchuck connected to the Wii Remote, the GameCube
controller will not function.

================================
Context Sensitive Buttons/Swings
================================
At various points in the game, cutscenes or actions will prompt you to swing
the Wii Remote (if you're using that) or press buttons within a split-second
timeframe in order to perform an action. For example, shooting an enemy in
the face will cause the enemy to stumble, and if you run up and press A, you
will perform a kick, but if you wait too long, the ganado regains his/her
composure and the button will disappear. In some cutscenes, you will need to
press the buttons or swing the Wii Remote to avoid dying. Pay close
attention to these context sensitive buttons during gameplay and cutscenes.
Sometimes, they may be the only way to defeat a boss. This walkthrough
assumes you're playing with the Wii Remote and thus the walkthrough will list
those situations.
===========
Using Herbs
===========
Throughout the game (and in previous RE titles if you remember) you will find
various colored herbs. Green herbs partially recover your health, naturally.
The red herbs do nothing by themselves, but when mixed with a green herb it
enhances the effect. Finally, there are yellow herbs, a new addition to
Resident Evil 4; these are more rare but when mixed with a green herb it can
raise your maximum health somewhat.
Mix Effect
--- ------
Green + Green More health recovery
Green + Green + Green Full health recovery
Green + Red Full health recovery
Green + Yellow Some health recovery + increase max health one bar
Green + Red + Yellow Full health recovery + increase max health one bar
Red + Yellow No effect
============
Enemy Spoils
============
Sometimes when you kill someone in the game, you will notice a colored aura
rising up from its corpse. If you investigate it, you are prompted to check
it out by pressing A, and you will receive the spoils left behind. Here is a
quick rundown of what each colored aura represents.
Color Spoils
----- ------
Green GREEN HERB
Red/White Various Ammo
Blue Treasure or Money (PTAs)
========
Merchant
========
There are merchants situated throughout the game, and they sell weapons,
healing items and weapon upgrades. They also purchase almost any non-quest
item in the game for half the value they would sell it for. PTAs are needed
to purchase items unless they're free.
======
Saving
======
You can save the game at a typewriter an unlimited amount of times (unlike
the previous RE games that required an ink ribbon). Also, the game is
divided up into chapters, and at the end of every chapter, you may save
your progress if you like (it counts the same as a typewriter save).
===================
Environment Objects
===================
Throughout the game's environments, there will be various objects that will
aid your adventure:
Shiny Object: Shoot it and you'll generally be able to pick it up. There are
portions of the game where you have to collect a certain
amount to earn a weapon with the merchant. These shiny objects
hang from ceilings or railings, and can yield valuable jewelry
with tons of value.
Explosive Barrel: It may save your life; shooting it will cause an
explosion so shoot when a strong enemy or a group of
weaker ones are near it.
Bear Traps: These traps appear numerous times throughout the game. They may
be hidden in sand, so you may become injured if you step into
them. Shoot or slash at them to "activate" them, thus allowing
you to get by unscathed.
Trip Bomb: In a few locations, especially in the village, are "Trip Bombs."
These bombs will explode and hurt Leon if he walks passed them
without dispatching the bombs first. You can tell the location
of these bombs by keeping a look out for orange-like dynamite
bombs that are pairs connected by a wire. Crossing the wire
triggers the bombs.
Hiding Places: When you are with Ashley, there might be trash cans you can
hide her in while you take care of enemies that might
threaten her. Use them unless you know you can get through
the area without using them.
Barrels: There are also non-explosive barrels. Use the knife to destroy
them and reap the benefits contained within.
================
Difficulty Modes
================
Like with all the versions of CODE: Veronica, Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition
does not have difficulty modes in the North American version (same goes for
GameCube and PlayStation 2). In the Japanese (and PAL) versions, however,
there are difficulty modes to choose from for Leon's main game.
Amateur: The easiest mode to choose from, with weak enemies and strong
characters. It takes quite a bit of damage to kill Leon, even from
the strongest enemies. Also, a few areas are cut off to male the
game path flow much quicker. This mode was introduced on the
PlayStation 2 version and was not available on the GameCube.
Easy: Also an easier difficulty mode, this mode is only slightly more
difficult than Amateur based on ammo. A few areas are also cut off
from explanation.
Normal: The standard mode of the game, offering a reasonable challenge. This
FAQ is based on Normal Mode. This was the only mode available in the
North American versions of the game until Professional is unlocked.
Professional: The hardest mode in the game, enemies are tougher kill and
deal more damage. This mode is unlocked after beating Leon's
game once.

-= 6. Walkthrough - Main Game -=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Leon S. Kennedy is who you control for most of the main game. The co-star of
Resident Evil 2, Leon's back after six years of training with the American
government. It's up to him to rescue Ashley Graham, the president's daughter,
from the forces that kidnapped her.
===========
Chapter 1-1
===========
Forest
------
You start off the game in the middle of the woods, literally. All you have is
your HANDGUN and the trusty KNIFE, as well as some FIRST AID SPRAY. Anyway,
start by going up the path where you'll find a house. Approach the house to
witness a cutscene, then go inside. You will get a second scene when you meet
the guy who lives in the house, and chooses to attack you. When you regain
control, quickly shoot him in the face and while he's stumbling around, run
up and kick (the game will prompt this; press A) to hopefully defeat it.
That way you don't waste ammo this soon.
After dispatching the first guy, Leon will talk on the radio with Hunnigan.
Following this, go upstairs and you will hear some people outside. Check on
the table to get HANDGUN AMMO (x10), then jump out the window straight ahead.
There will be 3 more Ganados (that's what the regular people are called, so
get used to it) with axes and pitchforks waiting to attack outside. Move to a
safe distance from the group and take them down one at a time. The best
approach again is to shoot them in the head and try kicking them away for an
easy ammo-efficient kill.
Once they're all dead, you are free to continue along the path. In the first
shack you encounter, cut open the boxes to get some PTAs, a GREEN HERB, and
HANDGUN AMMO (x10). There is also a typewriter in here, should you wish to
save the game right now. Continuing along the dirt path, you will spot a dog
whimpering because its leg is caught in a bear trap. Choose to help it out
(you'll see why it pays off later). Follow the path going down the hill and
then up another hill (be careful of the wire traps between a couple of the
trees to the side). Kill the Ganado atop the hill and continue onward to
another shack.
In this shack, destroy the boxes to get some PTAs, then pick up the GREEN
HERB as you exit. You will see two more Ganados nearby; kill them and cross
the bridge ahead. At the other side, go down the hill and you'll see yet
another shack. Be careful as you approach since there's a Ganado inside ready
to attack! Shoot him down from a safe distance, then pick up the HANDGUN AMMO
(x10) inside. Now, go ahead on the path and check the gate to enter a new
area.
Village of Pueblo
-----------------
As soon as you enter the new section, you are contacted by Hunnigan, who will
send you the PLAYING MANUAL 2 file. Its purpose is to explain how to play the
game, if you didn't already figure that out. When you're finished reading it
through or not, head up the path and you will be prompted to look ahead by
pressing A. You don't have to do this, but at this point will be a split in
the path. The best approach is to take the path going left and forward,
heading into the outskirts of the village of Pueblo. As you follow the path,
you can find a GREEN HERB to the left as you progress. Up ahead you will find
a woman with a pitchfork; break the box to find a RED HERB, then shoot at the
woman in your way. Quickly turn and hit the guy on the roof throwing axes at
you as well.
Your best move from here would be to follow the path under the awning you see
(it's behind where the woman was). Take that path until it turns right,
following it around the building. You should see an entrance to the house you
just ran around; go inside and you will witness a cutscene with the Ganados
descending upon the house. In there, push the dresser in front of the window
so they can't get in, then check the counter behind the stairs to find
HANDGUN AMMO (x10).
Go upstairs and take the SHOTGUN from its resting place on the wall, and
break upon the glass cabinet to find a HAND GRENADE. On the bed across the
room, you will find SHOTGUN SHELLS (x5). The second floor of this house
should be your "base" of sorts for fending off the masses. Keep an eye on the
window by the bed, since the villagers will put up a ladder and try to come
in; put a damper on this effort by knocking down the ladder when possible.
Another good method is to jump out the window to the side and stand on the
slanted roof, giving you a real safe spot when dealing with the Ganados.
There is another ladder leading to the roof you can knock down when you can.
Otherwise, just hang out up here blasting everyone as they come up. Try to
conserve your SHOTGUN for when a huge group is closing in on you, and
especially when the chain saw guy appears. Make sure you dispose of the chain
saw one quickly, since he can chop your head off, effectively ending the game
if you aren't careful.
After you kill enough of the Ganados, a cutscene will start and they will all
migrate to the strange church building in the middle of town. This means the
dangerous part is over for now, so take time to explore the village and pick
up any ammo or herbs you may have missed. Be sure to grab the YELLOW HERB
from a box behind the barn, and mix it with a green so you can increase your
max health.
When you are ready to continue with the game, there is a path to the left of
the tower. Follow it and you will come to another house on the right. Take
the HANDGUN AMMO (x10) from inside, as well as the ALERT ORDER file. Then,
continue on the path to the gate, and go through to the next area.
Farm
----
In this section, you will find a much quieter scene, fortunately. You may
also notice blue medallions hanging from various locations within this
region. There are 15 in total, and if you shoot down at least 10, you will be
rewarded by the Merchant (you'll meet him not too far from now). If you check
the tree you can get the paper discussing the medallions (About the Blue
Medallions).
Anyway, if you wander around this area you'll find some more Ganados to
shoot down, as well as lots of ammo in the different buildings. When you're
ready to go, head to the southeast corner of town (from where you enter just
head left and straight) and go through the giant gate.
In this next area, start to go down the hill and you will witness some
Ganados pushing a giant boulder down the hill behind you. This next part can
be rather annoying since it's one of those real time action cutscenes. At any
rate, you run down the hill by shaking the Wii Remote left and right while
this boulder is rolling down behind you. After a while, the screen will
suddenly tell you to press A + B; you must do this IMMEDIATELY to avoid
getting slammed by the boulder! Failure to do this will result in you dying
and having to reload your save point, or restarting from atop the hill but
with a loss to your record.
If you survive the boulder onslaught (you're going to have to anyway),
continue through the tunnel into a rather dangerous area. There are a couple
shacks in this section, but the Ganados have resorted to throwing explosives
your way. Be VERY careful not to stand too close, or you will take massive
damage and die. Try to pick the villagers off one by one, moving quickly to
avoid getting caught in an explosion.
Once you get through the first building, run around it making sure not to
step in the bear traps scattered along the floor. Go into the first house via
the back entrance and pick up the spoils, then head into the much larger
building in the back. Inside, take the HANDGUN AMMO (x10) off the table and
head into the next couple rooms. The rest of this house is booby-trapped, so
look for the red glowing bombs on the walls and shoot them out so they
detonate, making the room safe for exploration. In the third room, push the
bookcase away from the opening and continue onward. You will hear some
rattling coming from the closet in the back corner; check it out and a man
tied up will fall out. Witness the cutscene and the chapter will end.
===========
Chapter 1-2
===========
Abandoned House
---------------
After making acquaintances with Luis, you will witness another couple
cutscenes as Leon and Luis chat. During this, a Ganado with an axe approaches
the house you guys are tied up in. When he comes, you will have to shake
the Wii Remote in this action scene to escape sudden death. This frees the
two of you, and Luis bolts. After a transmission from Hunnigan, you will
have control again, so take the HANDGUN AMMO (x10) and leave the house.
Valley
------
As you make your exit, you will see a Merchant calling to you from out the
window. Go around the corner and take the RIFLE AMMO (x5) from the table,
then exit the house and go around to the Merchant. Here you can buy other
weapons, sell your treasures, and upgrade your current weapons. If you want
to upgrade now, go for it. I highly recommend you get the ATTACHE CASE M
right now so you can carry more inventory.
When you're done, turn back around and head through the metal gate. In this
large complex you'll have to deal with plenty of enemies, including some who
will throw explosives; watch out for those! For now, go right and down the
first hill, dispatching the guy who should be standing there. Follow the path
going up the hill as you take out anyone charging at you. Now you have to
watch for the explosive-throwers, so pay attention and you can navigate this
safely. A hint in dealing with them though; if you can shoot them dead before
they throw the dynamite, it will explode killing all the enemies surrounding
it; this can be to your advantage.
Go up the hills and dispatch anyone that comes your way. At the end of the
inclining path you'll find a chest; open it to get the EMBLEM (LEFT HALF).
Now that you have the first half, jump down to the lower area from the nearby
ledge. Down there you'll spot another building with an explosives thrower on
the roof. You'll also notice a path leading behind this shack; remember it
for you will be returning here shortly. Anyway, kill a bunch of Ganados that
swarm into the area and make your way down a hill to the next building. Go
around to the front side and climb the ladder. On the roof, go up the steps
and open the chest to get the EMBLEM (RIGHT HALF).
Now that you have both halves, combine them in the Key Items screen to form
the whole HEXAGONAL EMBLEM. Jump down to the lower area and go back up the
hill you just came from. This time take the left path going behind
everything, and you'll come to a door with an indentation. Use the HEXAGONAL
EMBLEM and the door will open, so go through.
Warehouse
---------
In this new area, cut open the barrels you find, then enter the abandoned
warehouse ahead. The first room is safe, but in the second room you'll
encounter some Ganados. Defeat them and move on until you reach an apparent
dead end. At that point, jump through the windows to the side and you'll be
faced with some dynamite-throwers out in the distance. If you have the RIFLE,
feel free to snipe them, otherwise aim well and shoot at them with your
HANDGUN, hopefully hitting their explosives for a quick room clear.
This room is also littered with bear traps so watch your step as you make
your way to the back area. To make it easier, shoot the traps to trigger them
so it's safer to cross over. Once at the far end, go through the door and
scavenge around in the next room. If you want some treasure, shoot through
the boarded up window and jump through to find an ELEGANT MASK. Anyway, head
through the door at the other side of the room, and go down the tunnel.
Defeat a couple Ganados there, and head into the next room. You can either
climb down into a well and grab some goodies, or climb up to exit the area
altogether.
Village Chief's House
---------------------
Outside again, go forward and you will see a well-trapped area with trip
bombs and bear traps. Shoot down the box on the tree to destroy the trip
bomb, then shoot away the bear traps so you can walk safely. Continue up some
steps and you'll find a door with a blue sphere on it. The idea is to make
the sphere display the insignia found on the church in the village. For a
simple solution, rotate it up and then left. The door leading inside will
then open.
In this house, check the bed for the CHIEF'S NOTE file, and the dresser for
the INSIGNIA KEY. Go through the door to the right and you'll watch a
cutscene where the Chief appears once again. Once it's done, the chapter will
also end.
===========
Chapter 1-3
===========
Village Chief's House
---------------------
Upon starting this chapter you will be contacted by Hunnigan once more. When
she's done talking, you will have control. If you want, go back into the
previous room for an optional, but very interesting cutscene. Then, go
downstairs and check around the house if you want, then exit through the front
door.
Path to Pueblo
--------------
Once outside, you'll face another chain saw guy. Destroy him quickly with the
SHOTGUN, then continue along the path. Kill off another group of Ganados
ahead, then unbar the large door and head into the village again.
Village of Pueblo
-----------------
Once again in Pueblo, you'll have to fight a couple Ganados, but nothing like
earlier when you first passed through. There will be several of them to
fight, though. Clear them and head to the building in town where everyone ran
off to earlier, and open the door with the INSIGNIA KEY. Inside, grab what
you can and go through the door, then climb down into an underground tunnel.
Tunnel
------
Down here, head along the corridors (they're safe) until you meet up with the
Merchant again. Sell your treasures here and buy the RIFLE if you have yet to
do so. You should have enough money to afford upgrading your HANDGUN and
SHOTGUN a bit, too. If you have extra money, get the TMP was well. When
you're done, go through the door and climb up to exit the tunnels.
Cemetery
--------
In here, go up the path defeating anything you come across. When you reach
the church, take the path leading to the right and onto some bridges. Kill
the Ganados you encounter and go through the door at the end to reach a new
area.
Lumber Yard
-----------
Here, you will find a few cabins built off to the side; enter them to find
some ammo and treasure. At the other end of the area, you'll see a large gate
with something moaning behind it. Luckily you won't have to fight whatever it
is yet, so take the open path to the right of it. At the split right now,
take the stairs going down and head through the door.
Lake Safehold
-------------
In this safe zone of sorts, jump down to the lower area and follow the path
to a typewriter for saving, and a Merchant. If you want to upgrade your guns,
now's your chance. Also, if you've been picking off the medallions along the
way here, you should have hit at least 10 by now. Talk to the Merchant and
you can take the PUNISHER handgun for free. It's good since it allows you to
shoot through two enemies at once; not too bad and can save you ammo.
When you're done in here, go back up the ladder and through the door to the
previous area. This time, head up the stairs and into the room to the right.
Swamp
-----
Here, start to go down the hill and you'll enter another action scene where
the Ganados roll a giant boulder down the hill behind you. Swing the Wii
Remote to stay ahead, then press A+B when prompted to jump out of the way
safely.
With that done, go forward to the swampy region. Run onto the bridge to get
the first guy's attention, then shoot the trip bomb to clear him easily. Run
ahead and dispatch a few more Ganados, and enter the shack. Drop into the
swampy area and continue to the right (or to the east if you check the map).
Shoot at the trip bombs hanging from the columns as you proceed, also making
sure to defeat any Ganados in your way. At the end of the path, go up the
hill onto dry land and go through the door at the top to reach the lake area.
Lake
----
You will encounter a split in the path up ahead, once again. If you go
forward and up the hill, you can reach a cliff overlooking the lake and
witness a cutscene detailing what you're about to face. Taking the lower path
though, you'll reach a shack containing a Green and YELLOW HERB, as well as a
typewriter should you want to save now. Up ahead is the dock, complete with a
motor boat waiting for you to jump into. Hop aboard and maneuver it to the
southeast (straight ahead pretty much; make sure you're at full health before
you start moving too), and you'll get another cutscene. This will be your
very first boss battle against a sea creature named Del Lago.
------------------
Boss: Del Lago
Found: Lake (Chapter 1-3)
Strategy: You start this fight off with the massive beast pulling your
boat along as it swims around the lake. The first tug-along
will take you through some floating debris in the water; avoid
it by steering to the left or right like you normally would.
Your only weapon against this boss is a harpoon, so aim and
throw when you get the monster in your crosshairs. When it's
towing you around normally, there won't be any debris in the
way, so take this time to throw some harpoons and cause some
damage. When Del Lago goes underwater, be careful since it
could reemerge and swim towards you with its mouth open to
cause you lots of damage. To avoid this, try to steer your boat
and evade it. Shortly after, it will emerge again and the cycle
repeats. Just so you're aware, if you hit debris or Del Lago
rams into your boat, you will fall into the water. When this
happens you have to shake the Wii Remote rapidly to swim back
to the boat or else you'll be eaten alive! After a while, when
Del Lago submerges it will become quiet and you can turn in all
directions to see what's around. At this point, arrows will
appear onscreen to show you where Del Lago is, charging at you.
Throw some harpoons as it approaches to attack some more. Then,
when the usual tugging around cycle commences, throw more
harpoons and avoid attacks like you normally would until you
defeat it.
------------------
Following the Del Lago fight, the monster will start to sink into the lake.
However, it's still pulling a rope which ends up being tangled around Leon's
leg! You will be prompted to shake the Wii Remote repeatedly as quickly as
possible for a few seconds as he cuts himself free. If you shook quickly
enough you'll survive, and the chapter will end.

Chapter 2-1
===========
Lake
----
When the chapter starts, you'll watch another cutscene as well as yet another
transmission from Hunnigan. After that's done, you will have control again.
Check nearby for the ANONYMOUS LETTER file, as well as some ammo, then exit
the house. If you look over by the lake you'll see some blue lights in the
distance. Should you be inclined to do so, get into the boat and ride out
toward the lights to enter a hidden cave.
Lake Cave
---------
In this area that was gated off earlier, you'll find some barrels with some
goodies inside, as well as the Merchant. If you have the means to buy
anything or upgrade, go for it. Otherwise, get back on the boat to exit.
Lake
----
Back on the water, head to the southern shore once again. Then, follow the
path going east in the rain to a new area.
Waterfall Passage
-----------------
Shortly after you arrive in here, you'll see your first Ganado who has been
infected by Las Plagas. Basically, when you kill a regular Ganado, if they
were infected a giant parasite will come out of their head and continue
advancing; to kill it, blast the parasite from a safe enough distance. Do
this here, then kill another guy and head up the stairs ahead. Hop across the
ledges and follow the path going alongside the rapidly moving water, then
jump across again further down. You'll see a rope up ahead; climb down it to
the basin area.
Down here, go forward and you'll be able to climb up a ladder to a higher
ledge. Before you do so however, aim up and shoot the Ganado standing patrol
there. After he's gone, climb up. If you look out in the distance you'll see
a couple of crates hanging. One is straight ahead and another is higher up
and towards the right. Use your RIFLE if you have it, if you have trouble
aiming. Shoot both crates down, then climb down and continue along the path.
After you pass the gears it will be an apparent dead end into the water. You
can shoot down another crate though, which you can jump across to the other
side with.
Since you already did it a couple moments earlier, continue jumping across
the last 2 crates to the far ledge. Go around that path to a ladder and climb
up to find a lever. Turn it and jump back down, and go across the 2 crates
again. Once on the middle platform several Ganados will run out of the
waterfall cave that's now accessible. Run up the path and defeat everyone
with your SHOTGUN. If you want, climb up the ladder here and break the barrel
to find a GREEN HERB. Otherwise, go into the cave.
Waterfall Cave
--------------
In here, go forward until you reach a wall with markings on it. Take the
ROUND INSIGNIA and it will open up. Following this, Hunnigan will call you,
so talk to her. After that, go on to another door and head through it.
Dock
----
In this room, go forward and hop onto the boat. It will automatically take
you back to an earlier area near the Merchant prior to the Del Lago battle.
Lake Safehold
-------------
When you arrive here, you can go left to the Merchant. If you don't want to
buy anything, it would still be a good idea to use the typewriter to save
your game here. Then, take the other path up a ladder and out of this area.
Lumber Yard
-----------
Here, make a left into the yard itself and you'll witness a cutscene. You
will then have to engage the El Gigante in battle.
--------------
El Gigante
Found: Lumber Yard (Chapter 2-1)
Strategy: This giant beast may appear to be really tough, but as long as
you keep your distance, you shouldn't have that much trouble.
From a distance, this boss can throw boulders at you, or even
pick up a tree and try swinging at you (you'll be prompted to
swing the Wii Remote quickly to avoid that). When you close in,
that's when it can get very dangerous since El Gigante can
either punch at you, kick you, or grab you, all of which cause
massive damage on your part. When it grabs you though, move the
left analog stick back and forth QUICKLY to stab your way out
of its palm. As for your attack on it, shower it with HANDGUN
bullets to the head, or use the RIFLE if you want the added
kick. If you're close, try using the SHOTGUN. Also, if you
rescued that dog early in the game (remember that?) it will
appear here to distract the boss, allowing you to get in some
shots without fear of attack. After you cause enough damage, a
parasite will burst out of El Gigante's back and the boss will
squat down. Run towards it and climb on by pressing the button,
then swing the Wii Remote rapidly to knife the parasite. After
a few seconds you'll get knocked down again and the fight
continues. Repeat this a couple times and you will win.
--------------
Following the battle, the gates will open and you can continue with your
journey. Collect the 15000 PTAs prize from El Gigante's corpse, then head
through the west gate. Also, if you haven't done this during the fight, run
around the area and go into the little houses to find some items, including
a YELLOW HERB on a ledge near one of the gates. At any rate, go west to exit.
Cemetery
--------
When you enter this area, make your way across the bridges once again, until
you reach the other end. Once at the end, beware since at the top of the hill
are dogs waiting to attack you. You may want to use the SHOTGUN to take them
all down quickly. Once they're dead, run up to the church and use the ROUND
INSIGNIA to open the door, and go inside.
Church
------
Inside the church finally, go to the left side and climb up a ladder to reach
the upper level. There will be a control panel in the center area, so go
operate it. This puzzle involves red, green, and blue lights, but they're not
solid lights. You have to turn each individual color so that when you combine
the colors into one circle, it resembles the center one with the insignia on
it. Turn blue 1 time, red 2 times, and green 3 times, then combine. The gates
on the opposite side of the room will drop and you can access the door, so do
that.
Inside, you will witness a cutscene where you finally find Ashley, the
President's daughter who was kidnapped. After that, talk to Hunnigan, and you
will get the PLAYING MANUAL 3 with details on controlling Ashley. Basically,
you can have her follow you or stay in place by pressing +, you can heal her
with herbs if attacked, and you get game over if she dies/is taken away
through a door.
With Ashley now, take what you can find in the room and exit. Run around the
perimeter and jump down to the lower floor, and head into the main area to
watch a cutscene. You will finally meet the Lord Saddler that you've heard so
much about up until now. After the scene, the chapter ends.
===========
Chapter 2-2
===========
Church Side Room
----------------
In here, cut open the barrels to get a few more items, then unlock and exit
through the door.
Cemetery
--------
Outside, you will see a quick cutscene with a whole mess of Ganados in the
graveyard. This won't be too hard, though. Go forward to the path and Ashley
will tell you there are explosives on the wagon in front of you. Shoot at the
wagon and the barrels will start to explode, killing most of the threat.
Shoot down the remaining enemies, then run down the path and climb down the
ladder into the next area.
Tunnel
------
In this underground passage, go straight through it and visit the Merchant
when you come to him. He'll have a couple new weapons for you this visit,
should you be interested. If not, then continue through to the end where you
can climb up a ladder and go through the door into a room. Take what you can
and save your game here, then go outside to the village.
Village of Pueblo
-----------------
Outside in the rain once more, head toward the tower and follow the path to
the left of it. There will be some Ganados coming to attack you, but a
greater threat to you are the bear traps lining the path this time around.
Shoot them out so you and Ashley don't get caught, then kill the people and
move on. When you make it to the gate, go through to the next section.
Farm
----
Here, you'll see a box near the entrance and the option to let Ashley hide
inside. It's unnecessary in this area, so let her keep following you. As you
go along the path here, you'll encounter a few villagers ready to attack. Go
inside the barn when you reach it and shoot out the bear traps, then climb up
the ladder to the upper floor. Jump out the window and follow the wooden path
to the end. Drop down and catch Ashley, then trigger the bear traps in the
way. At the gate, piggyback Ashley over and she will open the way to the next
area. Note that if you missed any blue medallions on your first run through,
they'll still be here, except the darkness will make them easier to spot.
Bridge
------
Out here, go forward and you'll find another Merchant. Then, go onto the long
bridge and Hunnigan will contact you. Following this, cross the bridge and
you'll witness another cutscene where you may be apparently trapped. You both
retreat into a nearby house.
Abandoned House
---------------
Inside this house, you will meet up with Luis once again. The Ganados are
descending upon the house in huge numbers, so now you must battle. When you
get control, the first thing you should do is push the dressers in front of
all the windows to delay the threat. Then, collect all the ammo and herbs in
the room. When the Ganados start breaking into the house, you and Luis must
destroy them all while Ashley hides upstairs.
There will be a LOT of them coming in so be alert and able to deal with
everything as it comes. It's best to alternate weapons for this battle; use
the HANDGUN or KNIFE when you're fighting a single enemy, but take the
SHOTGUN out when a group of them have amassed. Use the stairs to your
advantage too, as its narrow and a HAND GRENADE can become useful.
Occasionally, Luis may leave ammo for you to fetch, so be sure to take them.
After a while, Luis will direct you to go upstairs, so follow him up.
Upstairs, there are a few windows where Ganados can climb in with ladders.
Knock the ladders down and push dressers in front of the windows, then
continue with the resistance. After many more Ganados are dead, they will
decide to back off, and the chapter will finally end.
===========
Chapter 2-3
===========
Abandoned House
---------------
When you gain control in this scene again, go through the door to exit the
house. Run behind the house and you'll meet the Merchant yet again. If you
enter the shack next to him, you'll find the TWO ROUTES paper and a
typewriter for saving your game. To the south there are two gates and a lever
between the two. You can only pick one of them to go on for progressing, so
it's really up to you. I will cover both paths in the next few paragraphs, so
read them through and decide which road is for you that way.
Left Path
---------
In this area, shoot the explosives ahead to clear the few Ganados that may
approach you quickly. Follow the path around a few sharp turns and climb up
the ladder to an upper area. You should find a box up there; hide Ashley in
it for now. As for yourself, walk around the top part killing off the Ganados
you come across. When they're all gone, jump into the center area and a
cutscene showing 2 chain saw women will commence. When you get control again,
avoid the chain saws and climb up a ladder to the upper area. Run to a safe
spot and kill off anyone else that's up there with you. When the chain saw
women come towards you, use the SHOTGUN to quickly bring them down.
Once you defeat the chain saw attackers and everyone else, grab the Camp Key
and call Ashley back to you. Drop down to the center area of the camp and
unlock the door to continue. Further along the path inside, you'll come
across another ambush of Ganados. Defeat them and make your way to the door
so you can pass through to the new area where the path rejoins.
Right Path
----------
As a note of advice, you may want to buy that ROCKET LAUNCHER from the
Merchant if you're taking this path. Anyway, inside, go forward and another
El Gigante will jump out for you to battle. If you look above, there is a
boulder sitting on a ledge. Move back a bit so that when El Gigante is below
it, you shoot the boulder down to stun the enemy. It's the same battle plan
as last time: attack until the parasite comes out, then climb atop and stab
away! The difference this time is you have Ashley to watch out for. Either
way, when you kill it, go through the door by kicking or shooting the chains.
Collect a ton of ammo and jewels in the two buildings, as well as the OLD
KEY. Kick/shoot open the second door ahead and then use the OLD KEY to open
the way to the new area.
Safehold
--------
Regardless of the path you took, when you reach the new area, make your way
to the building on your map to the southeast. Inside, you can find the
VILLAGE'S LAST DEFENSE files, some ammo, and a typewriter for saving. You
should also visit the Merchant who is nearby, and buy the RIFLE and the SCOPE
for it sold separately if you haven't already done so. When you're ready, run
up the hill and you'll find a giant gate to the right. It is the way out of
the village, but it is locked for now. So, continue up the hill to a lift
station. Choose to get onto the lift here.
Lift
----
This particular part is where the RIFLE will really shine. While you're
riding down the lift, there are platforms coming at you on the other side,
many of them with Ganados ready to attack as you pass. With the RIFLE, you
can zoom in from a great distance and nail them all. Plus, with the RIFLE's
power, you can cut through an entire group on a platform with one shot! On
the left side atop the cliffs, there are 2 Ganados that will jump on top of
your platform and try to cut it off the line, so be sure to snipe them as
well. When you reach the bottom, you'll automatically disembark.
Lower Lift Station
------------------
Run around the platform and jump into the control room, if you want to find
some ammo. Then, continue onward to some stairs. Go down the first set and
you'll find a path going north. If you go along that path, you'll face a few
Ganados and find a YELLOW CATSEYE treasure at the end. Continuing down the
stairs though, you'll find some boxes of ammo and a Merchant up ahead. Go
past him and through the gate to the next area.
Old Shack
---------
Make your way up and down the dirt path in this area. At the end you'll find
a large rundown shack of sorts. Make sure you're at full health and your
weapons are fully loaded at this point too. When you approach the building a
cutscene will take place with the Village Chief. You'll then be inside the
shack on the ground, and you'll be prompted to perform the QTE action in
order to avoid the chief's crushing fist during the cutscene. Continue
watching the scene as the shack is lit up in flames and the chief transforms
into a giant parasitic creature to fight.
----------------------------------
Bitores Mendez (Village Chief)
Found: Old Shack (Chapter 2-3)
Strategy: For the first part of the battle, this guy really isn't hard as
long as you don't get hit. He starts off a fair distance from
you, walking at a slow enough pace. Use this time to shoot at
his long spine with your HANDGUN (or maybe with your RIFLE if
you're feeling lucky). If he gets a little close, climb the
ladder behind you and collect the items upstairs. If the chief
stops moving and starts to attack you up there, jump down and
blast his spine a couple times with the SHOTGUN while he's
preoccupied. Then, run to the other end of the room to be safe
and repeat the process. If he gets close, run past him,
swinging the Wii Remote quickly to avoid being maimed to death.
After you attack the spine enough, it will bend back; use this
time to attack the base part some more. After a couple good
shots, move away and prepare for another round of combat. Do
this all again until you can attack the base of the spine when
it bends. Once you hurt it enough, the top part will detach and
the chief will have no legs to move with. So, he will hang on
the ceiling going between the steel beams heading towards you.
If he gets close, move away to avoid a massive attack. The best
way to handle this form is to snipe him from a distance with
the RIFLE. If you hit him hard enough in the air, he'll fall
down and regain bearings before rising up again. If you're
quick enough to keep hitting him when he goes up, you'll have
this fight won in no time with minimal damage to yourself.
----------------------------------
After the fight, check the body to get the FALSE EYE. This is what you needed
at the locked gate earlier. It'll also be a good time to collect any items in
here you may have missed. Then, jump through the open window near the fiery
section and Ashley will be waiting for you there. Now it is time to backtrack
to the top of the lift since there are no enemies left.
Safehold
--------
After you ride the lift back to the upper areas, run down the hill to the
gate. Upon checking it you'll see it is a retina scanner, so use the False
Eye to unlock it. Go through the gate to exit the village.
Street
------
As you run up the street, you'll see a truck heading your way from atop the
hill. Using your RIFLE, snipe the driver and the truck will fall on its side,
stopping just before it reaches you. As you pass the wreckage, plenty of
Ganados will appear from behind you. Use the SHOTGUN or RIFLE to clear them
all quickly and efficiently, then pick up the spoils and continue up the
road. At the end, you'll watch a cutscene where a whole slew of villagers are
coming after you. So, you both cross the bridge to a castle and raise the
drawbridge. Also at this point, the chapter ends.
===========
Chapter 3-1
===========
Castle Entrance
---------------
Starting off in here, go forward and right to a room where the Merchant can
be found. He has plenty of new wares this time that you should buy, such as
the ATTACHE CASE L and the BLACKTAIL (sell your HANDGUN for it). You should
also get the RIFLE (Semi-Auto) to replace your first RIFLE if you can afford
it. When you're done here, go up the stairs and through the door at the top.
Lower Catapult Area
-------------------
In this area, go around the corner and pick up some ammo, then look ahead.
You'll see two hooded men on the upper ledge; snipe them if you want. Head to
the right and up some more steps. At the top you'll see a quick scene with a
red-robed creature, perhaps the head guy, directing the others to launch
their fiery catapults at you. Step back and wait for the fireballs to hit the
ground, then when it quiets down, it'll be time to move. Follow the left wall
and run straight under a walkway above and turn right to a safe area, in
between catapult shots. Go up the stairs and you'll be in catapult danger
again, so equip your RIFLE and snipe the one to the south.
Upper Catapult Area
-------------------
Go up onto the platform at the bridge's start, and snipe the red-robed guy
standing on a center platform to the southwest, as well as the regular hooded
person operating the catapult. Start walking onto the bridge, then turn
around and snipe the red barrel next to the catapult directly behind you; its
explosion will kill the person launching the catapults. Then, quickly run
across the bridge to the other side. Inside the room there, you'll find a
hooded guy with face armor to fight; shoot at his body to kill. Be careful
since a couple reinforcements will appear the way you just came, so watch
out.
After you clear them, make Ashley wait by the room as you cross the eastern
bridge. Beware of the final catapult to the north you haven't stopped yet.
Snipe it from the tower at the opposite end of the circular pit, to be safe.
Once that's done, call Ashley to you and operate the controls near the pit
(rotate the Wii Remote as indicated on the screen to rotate the crank). When
you're done, check the cannon to fire it at the door to the north. Now that
the path is open, go back across the first bridge and continue through the
open wall.
You'll find a Merchant just inside that new room, as you might expect. If you
want something, buy it here, otherwise go through the door to the next part.
Sword Room
----------
Inside this room, you'll find a sword on the wall in front of you. It's the
Platinum Sword, so take it. Go upstairs and you'll find some hooded enemies
to fight. Clear them and you'll notice a whole bunch more coming in from
downstairs. Stay in one of the back corners and pick them off when they get
close. When it appears there are no more, head down the steps and snipe the
last guy in the red robe. Upstairs, there is a GOLDED SWORD on the wall; take
it and place the PLATINUM SWORD in its place. Now, go downstairs and put the
GOLDEN SWORD on the wall where you found the first sword. This will open a
door upstairs, so go up and through it.
Outside Castle Gate
-------------------
Go forward in this area and you'll watch another cutscene where you come
across Luis yet again. After the scene, you'll see a larger locked door to
the north, and a smaller door up ahead. In the Japanese version's Easy and
Amateur Modes, the large door will instantly be unlocked, saving you a bit
of time.
For all other players, go into the smaller door. Once there, defeat some
enemies as they come out at you. You'll notice an alley to the right; follow
it into a room where you'll find some more enemies hiding out. Clear them
and take the spoils found in here, then go over by the window. You should
hear the guy shooting a crossbow in your direction. When he's in between
shots, snipe him off the bridge with your RIFLE.
Now, go through the door and run under that overpass to encounter 2 shielded
enemies. Aim towards the top of the shields, since that's where the enemy's
head is behind it (your best bet is the SHOTGUN to quickly eliminate them).
Go through the door ahead and open the chest in the corner to find a CASTLE
GATE KEY. At this point, the door will open and some more hooded enemies will
appear. Shoot the red barrel near where they enter to clear a bunch of them
hopefully. Use your weapons to clear the rest of them, then leave the room.
Backtrack to the large locked door and use the key there to enter.
Entrance Hall
-------------
Finally inside the castle, go forward and watch a cutscene, where you meet
Salazar. Following this interesting scene, go up the stairs and an ornamental
wall will rise from the ground, blocking your path that way. There is a
typewriter here though, so you might as well save your game. Be sure to break
the pots in this room to collect whatever they may be hiding. When ready, go
through the door to the right of the typewriter.
Fire Statue Room
----------------
In this room, check the Saddler painting on the right wall for 5000 PTAS.
Then, go all the way forward and check the note on the wall (CAPTURE LUIS
SERA). Also, be sure to grab the YELLOW HERB nearby. Go left into the room
where 2 fire breathing statues are blocking your path that way as well.
However, there is a painting in an alcove to the right; check it to get the
PRISON KEY. Go back to the long room and you'll find a locked door leading
downstairs. Unlock it with the PRISON KEY, and make Ashley wait at the top of
the stairs to avoid her interference in the next segment.
Prison Room
-----------
Go down and collect the GREEN HERB in a corner, then open the prison gate.
Inside is a Garrador, which is a crazy blind creature with giant claws to
attack with. When you try to approach the Garrador, it will come to life and
attack, so run out immediately. It reacts to noise as you might guess, so
look around the room and you'll find a couple bells. If you shoot one, the
Garrador will raise its claws and charge at the bell, only to get its claws
stuck in the wall.
There is a parasite on its back which you can hit when he is stuck, so shoot
it with something powerful like your RIFLE or SHOTGUN. Run away to avoid a
counter attack, such as its random thrashing about and/or charging at you.
If the Garrador charges at you, run out of the way so he hits the wall,
giving you another chance to attack. 4 or 5 good SHOTGUN shots to the back
should be sufficient.
Once it's dead, go into the prison cell and pull the lever to shut off the
fire in the statue room upstairs. So, head back upstairs and allow Ashley to
follow you again by pressing +.
Fire Statue Room
----------------
Back upstairs, beware of the two hooded enemies that may have run into the
room. Defeat them and continue forward to the statue room. There is a guy
with dynamite and two crossbow shooters to the sides, so aim for the center
one with the dynamite first. If you have a grenade of any sort, now is the
best time to toss it in. When the room is clear, go through it to the final
small chamber in here. Defeat a single hooded enemy inside, then go through
the giant doors to the next area.
Large Hall
----------
When you enter here, there are two archers in the center of the room, but
there are also various hooded enemies (some with shields) coming from the
sides to get you. My approach here is to immediately go to the corner to your
left, and use the HANDGUN to quickly dispose of the regular hooded guy coming
at you on the left side. Then, use your RIFLE (Semi-Auto helps greatly here)
to snipe the shielded ones (aim high to head shot them) as well as the
archers and the red-robed enemy. After you kill a few of them, more will pour
in through the side doors. Defeat the shielded ones with the RIFLE, then use
HANDGUN bullets on the remaining regular enemies.
When the room is clear, collect everything you can around the room, then go
to the back end and down the stairs. Defeat yet another enemy down here, and
enter the room in the back. Pick up the GREEN HERB and some SHOTGUN Shells
(x5) on the chair, then step on one of the yellow switches. Have Ashley wait
on one while you step on the other; this will trigger stairs to appear above
so you can reach the upper area of the hall.
However, by hitting these switches, various enemies will drop in from above
and enter the room via the doorway in a few moments. So, call Ashley to
follow you and run out of the room with SHOTGUN equipped. Blast the shielded
enemy away and make a run for the stairs going up. Cross the room so you have
a safe distance between yourself and the next round of enemies coming up.
Defeat them all, including the two archers on the upper tier, then when it's
safe once more go to the middle area. Turn the crank to make stairs leading
to the upper level appear.
On the upper level, go into the room to the right and break the pot to find a
FIRST AID SPRAY. Back in the main area, go forward to the fountain and Ashley
will point out another crank on the upper walkway. Break the two pots atop
the steps ahead to get some RIFLE and SHOTGUN ammo, then go over to one of
the ledges by the upper walkway. Piggyback Ashley up there and she'll take
care of both cranks, but you have to protect her. There will be enemies down
by you to worry about, but the priority is to snipe any hooded enemies above
that will threaten Ashley. If she is captured, be careful to shoot the bad
guy and not her. When she activates both cranks and the platforms rise from
the water, go to the wall and catch her, then jump across the platforms and
go into the next room.
Main Hall
---------
In this much quieter room, go forward and you'll see the Merchant and a
typewriter for saving. You'd best save your game at this point, as well as
visiting the Merchant for weapon upgrades. There is also a Shooting Gallery
if you go through the northwest door here (more information on that in a
different section of this guide). When you're ready, go up the center hall
and you'll watch another cutscene. Apparently Ashley disappears at this point
too, and then the chapter ends.
===========
Chapter 3-2
===========
Trap Room
---------
Immediately after entering this next chapter, Leon will try contacting
Hunnigan again. However, the transmission will be interrupted by Salazar (the
kid you met earlier). After the conversation ends, you'll have control, so
head through the nearby door into a new room.
Sewers
------
In this room, drop down to a lower area and continue along the relatively
safe path for now. As soon as you go around the corner though, you'll have to
start worrying. There are creatures in the sewers called Novistadors; they
are transparent so you'll only see an outline of them coming at you or see
footsteps, but they are very dangerous. Try to kill them off quickly with
your SHOTGUN, since they do hurt a lot and can possibly decapitate you if
they're attacking from above.
After killing the one in the long corridor, you'll come to a part where there
is a pit below. Beware since there are 2 Novistadors down there, and if you
walk by they will jump out at you. You'll have to go down there anyway, so be
ready to take them out fast. After that, go up the opposite ladder and go
through the door.
This room is going to be full of battles with more Novistadors, so be ready
for it. At least in here you'll see them coming. Anyway, walk towards the
center of the room and kill two of them. When they're done, feel free to
explore the cells in here (one of them has a YELLOW HERB you should get). At
the far end of the room is an area flooded with water. To drain it, follow
the east path (it's to the left of where you came in) through some ruins,
into a control room of sorts.
In here, you'll see a wheel to turn; use it to drain the water in the other
room. Also, be sure to check the crates and open the chest for a BUTTERFLY
LAMP treasure if you want. After you turn the wheel, leave the room. Be
warned though, the path you just came from will now be inhabited by a few
Novistadors, watch out! When you make it back to the center room, fight a
couple more of them as they fall from the opening in the ceiling. Then, drop
down into the drained area and go through the gate.
As soon as you go through the gate, a Novistador will appear behind you, so
run into the new room and quickly turn to kill it. When that's done, go up
the steps and through the door into another new room, out of the sewers.
Pendulum Room
-------------
Inside this noisy room, there is a narrow pathway, with several giant
pendulum blades moving back and forth intersecting with the path. If you look
on the ground along this path you'll see lines where the blades pass over, so
use those as guidelines to know where not to stand when resting. Anyway, make
your way across the room while avoiding the blades. At the other side, go
through the door into another small room. In there, go up the ladder and
through the next door to reach the main hall again.
Main Hall
---------
Now that you're back in the main hall from earlier, or the upper ledges at
least, you'll watch a cutscene. Apparently there is something going on below
as you can see. If you want to get the ILLUMINADOS PENDANT treasure, snipe
the red robed guy and drop down to collect the treasure. Either way you have
to drop down, but when you do, everyone will escape into the north room you
have no access to. As for yourself, save at the typewriter, then run up the
stairs and meet the Merchant once more. Then, go into the room with the red
door.
Gallery
-------
When you enter the castle's gallery, be prepared for a hell of a time. In the
first couple small rooms, pick up the goods and the Castellan Memo, then go
into the first battle room. As soon as you enter, a red-robed guy will direct
2 crossbow enemies to aim/shoot at you. With RIFLE in hand, quickly aim and
try to kill off the red-robed one immediately (if you don't, you'll have
several more opportunities, but it will make things MUCH easier if you kill
him now). Kill the crossbow archers and the masked enemy on the balcony, then
use your HANDGUN on the ones down where you are. Break all the pots to get
the items they hold, then head to the back left corner of the room and go
through that door.
Go up the stairs and kill the face-armored enemy at the top, then head
through another door to the upper level of the room you just came from.
Follow the path around the room's perimeter until you can drop to a lower
platform. Do so and the red-robed enemy will run into that room. Follow him
in and defeat the masked enemies inside. Go up the steps to the ledge you
just came from, and go straight. Go around the corner and straight into the
room you came from moments earlier. Be careful as you enter since a shielded
enemy will be waiting; use your SHOTGUN to dispose of him quickly.
Go down the stairs and as you go through the door at the bottom, you'll find
the red-robed enemy in the center area. The area rises up to reveal a machine
gun platform which he uses to attack you. The best approach to this is to go
back upstairs and try sniping him with your RIFLE from a safe strafing
corner. Once he's dead, go back down there and collect the GALLERY KEY.
In this next puzzle room you'll find 4 portraits on the wall and a central
console that flips them. The idea is to flip the pictures around so there are
6 bodies total across the 4 pictures. To do this quickly, here are the ones
you should flip in the proper order: 3 4 1 2. With that done, go into the new
room.
When you enter here, you'll witness a cutscene with Salazar. Following this,
a whole mess of hooded enemies will ambush you. First off, deal with the
scythe-wielding enemies down on your level (they can throw the scythes at you
too, so be careful). Once they're gone, some crossbow enemies will appear by
the stairs. Use your RIFLE to pick them off as you avoid the incoming fire
arrows. There are 6 crossbow enemies to worry about. Be careful after you
kill them since a panel will open across the room with 2 enemies shooting
their rocket launchers at you. Avoid that, collect any ammo and such on the
bottom level, and head up the stairs to the upper walkway.
First, head to the west side of the room where the rocket launcher enemies
were hiding in the wall. Hit the switch on the wall to deactivate the
security in the room, then as you back up, the wall panel will open again.
Quickly use your SHOTGUN or something to shoot the rocket launcher enemies
before they hit you. Then, head to the south side of the room and go into
that door. Break the pot and hit the switch inside to make a walkway leading
to the center chest appear. Be careful as you exit the room since there will
be 2 more rocket launcher enemies standing on that platform.
The best idea here is to quickly run out and to the left/right, or duck back
into the switch room. When it's safe, come back out and shoot them dead. Go
around to the walkway and open the chest now to get the GOAT ORNAMENT. Before
you leave, there is a side room you can enter that contains a YELLOW HERB; it
may be useful for you to pick it up. When you're done, go back to the west
side and through the door that's no longer gated.
Balcony
-------
In this new area, use the typewriter situated nearby to save your game. Then,
continue to the next part of the room. There are two doors here: one is
locked so you have to go into the left room. (You can get through the locked
door later by bringing Ashley back here. You'll get a BROKEN BUTTERFLY and
lots of treasures if you return here.) Head up the steps and through the door
at the top to go out onto the actual balcony. Follow the path to a fountain
containing some treasures, and a door to the side. You can't go through the
door, but if you want to come back with Ashley later, you can get the room's
contents then. Anyway, continue along the path and through the door to reach
the hedge maze.
Garden
------
In the garden, follow the path going along the wall. You'll come to a door
that has an indentation in the middle (in the Japanese version's Easy and
Amateur Modes, there door will automatically be open, so just go through
and skip onto Chapter 3-3).
For the Normal Mode players, you need to find the piece that perfectly fits
there, so continue onward for now. After a radio transmission from Salazar,
go down the steps into a hedge maze. If you look at your map there are two
round spots in this garden; they are fountains, each containing a piece of
the MOONSTONE you need to find. So, you have to head to each of those spots.
Just use your map to navigate this maze since it'll be easier to do that than
to follow actual tangible directions.
Also while navigating this maze, there are plenty of loose infected dogs
ready to attack you, some will even pop out of the bushes at a moment's
notice, so BEWARE! Have your SHOTGUN ready for such occasions. Once you get
both pieces of the MOONSTONE, go back to the gate you came in through and
head up the stairs. When you come to the locked door, combine the pieces and
use the completed Blue Moonstone to open the door. As you enter the room,
you'll be treated to a rather fun cutscene involving an old ally.
After the cutscene, the chapter will end.

Chapter 3-3

Residency
---------
In this rather peaceful setting, explore the room to find a memo called
FEMALE INTRUDER, as well as some ammo and a Merchant. Sell your treasures and
upgrade your guns, should you want to now. Then, save your game at the
typewriter in the main room, and go through the door into a dining room.
In here, collect the ammo and the GREEN HERB on the tables. At the end of the
hall you'll come to a counter with a bell on it; ring the bell and a portrait
will appear at the end of a long hall in front of you. Use your RIFLE and
shoot the wine bottle to open the adjacent door. If you're looking for some
added ammo and herbs, you can go down the right hallway to a storage room of
sorts. Anyhow, head into the room to the left of the bell counter.
Be careful as you enter the room, since a cage will come down and various
hooded enemies will surround it, not to mention a Garrador (that blind clawed
enemy) will be in the cage with you. Quickly use your SHOTGUN to blast
through the lock on one of the cage doors, and get out of the cage. Kill the
enemies outside the cage, then concentrate on the Garrador. Use your RIFLE to
aim at his back when he turns (try to stay still so this is made easier).
After you kill him and all the other enemies, open the chest to get the
HOURGLASS WITH GOLD DECOR. Then, go into the northeast room.
Foyer
-----
In this next room full of enemies, drop down and defeat the next batch of
enemies. Once they're done, go over to the lever and operate it to make a
walkway appear above. Climb up the ladder to the upper ledge and cross the
walkway. As soon as you cross to the other side, the door will open and
various shielded enemies will enter. Shoot the lamp above and it'll kill or
severely damage most of them. Also, be careful of the enemies coming in from
behind you. Once you clear them all, go left and down some steps. Defeat a
shielded enemy down there and break the glass case to get a ROCKET LAUNCHER,
as well as various treasures and ammo.
Then, go up the steps and defeat a crossbow enemy. Blast through the lock on
the door, and run across that walkway a second time. Go into that room at the
other end this time. Go up the path and you'll meet the Merchant yet again.
You can buy the ATTACHE CASE XL, so if you can afford it, buy it now!
Otherwise, save your game and go through the nearby door.
When you enter this new room, you'll witness yet another cutscene with Luis
and Lord Saddler. Following the cutscene, as you would expect, the chapter is
over.

Chapter 3-4
===========
Inner Castle Balcony
--------------------
When you gain control of Leon yet again, walk around the perimeter and
collect ammo from the various pots and ledges. When you're done, walk down
onto the center platform and you'll find Ashley chained up against the wall.
Use your RIFLE and scope to zoom in, shooting each of the three bars holding
her there. When she's free, all sorts of hooded enemies will enter below to
try and recapture her. Using your RIFLE, snipe each of them to protect her.
She will try to exit through a door, but to no avail. A second batch of
enemies, including archers aiming at you, and a red-robed guy, will enter.
Take care of the archers and the red-robed enemy quickly. It holds the key
Ashley needs in order to open the door. Once she has it, she'll go into the
room.
Armory
------
For this next part, you will have total control of Ashley. She cannot really
attack or use weapons, so you have to try your best to avoid the enemies.
Anyway, use the typewriter in the first room. In the second room, you'll meet
up with your first enemy. There are several lanterns placed in the room you
can throw at the enemy to burn/defeat him, so do that when he gets close.
However, try not to miss, as you only have the amount of lanterns in the room
and can't obtain anymore once they're gone.
Collect the GREEN HERB in the room, and operate the crank on the wall to open
the gate blocking progress (you can crawl under the tables to evade enemies
if you need to).
In the next room, you'll have a similar situation with the enemy and the
lanterns. Dispose of the enemy and then turn the two cranks this time to open
the gate, then go down the hallway that opens up. You can enter a room to the
left, or continue down the hall to yet another room. Opt for the second room
right now.
In this puzzle room are 3 switches and 3 gates. Push the shelf to the side to
reveal a switch; do NOT hit it yet. Instead, take the left path to a switch
on the wall. Hit that and go through the gate that opens. Collect the STONE
TABLET, then hit the switch in that middle room. Crawl under the table and
hit the switch that was behind the shelf, then crawl back under and follow
the now open path to the door. Go through into that room. Go down this dark
hall past suits of armor, into a room with a pedestal in the center. The top
of it is a puzzle with 8 tiles, and the ninth one is missing. Pretend the
board's 9 spaces are numbered like this:
_ _ _ _ _ _
| | | |
|_1_|_2_|_3_|
| | | |
|_4_|_5_|_6_|
| | | |
|_7_|_8_|_9_|
From the starting position, here is where you should move what in order to
complete the puzzle: 6 to 5, 3 to 6, 2 to 3, 5 to 2, 4 to 5, 7 to 4, 8 to 7,
9 to 8, 6 to 9, 5 to 6, 2 to 5, 1 to 2, 4 to 1, 7 to 4, 8 to 7, 5 to 8, 6 to
5, and 9 to 6.
Then, enter the STONE TABLET and the puzzle will be complete. The door will
now open, so go through it. Inside, check the statue on the south wall to
collect the SALAZAR FAMILY INSIGNIA. The statue will then rotate to reveal a
chest, and the door will lock. Open it to get the SERPENT ORNAMENT. At this
point, the last few rooms worth of armored statues will come to life and
attack. Avoid them as you escape through the last 2 rooms. When you go down
the hall, you'll see an armor statue straight ahead. As you approach it, it
will bring its axe down on you, so you have to use the designated action
buttons (A + B) to dodge it. Continuing on, avoid the next few armored statue
encounters as you make it through the switch room.
When you get back to the hallway, go into the room straight ahead (the one I
told you not to enter for now). In here, collect the BUTLER'S MEMO and check
the pedestal in the middle of the room. Place the SALAZAR FAMILY INSIGNIA on
the spot and turn the dial to make the wall open up, revealing a hidden
passage. Follow the passage to a door at the end, and go through it to be
reunited with Leon. After a touching cutscene, the chapter ends.
===========
Chapter 4-1
===========
Inner Castle Balcony
--------------------
At the start of the chapter, you'll have another conversation with Salazar
via the radio. You will also receive all the items and treasure Ashley picked
up in her adventure that she didn't use, so if you dodged enemies well,
you'll get extra herbs. When you're ready, go north down the hall and into
that room.
Note: Feel free to return to the locked door on the Balcony with Ashley to
get the BROKEN BUTTERFLY and plenty of treasures. Be careful for any Los
Illuminados you run into. Then return here and continue the walkthrough.
Tram Car Room
-------------
In here, you have the option of riding a tram car to another section of the
castle. For now, don't do that; instead, step onto the platform near the
typewriter and ride across the lava (Ashley will stay behind for this part,
but she won't be in any danger, so don't worry about her for now). At the
other side, go into the next room.
Fiery Room
----------
In this rather complex room, run down to the second main platform with the
pedestal on it, avoiding the first fire dragon to the right. From there, go
up the steps to the right and snipe the guy controlling that first dragon.
Next, jump onto the rotating platform when an opening comes up. Then, jump
through the same opening at the other side when you can.
In this next segment, there is another fire dragon to the right, so try and
snipe its controller whenever you get a chance (you'll have to move around
since it tries to face you, blocking the controller behind it). There will
also be several enemies falling into the area, so watch out. At the far end
of the room is a third fire dragon and 2 walls. Move to one side so the fire
starts shooting that way, then quickly run to the other side and snipe the
controller. Go up the steps that appear and open the chest to get the LION
ORNAMENT.
Now, backtrack out of this room and return across the pit to where Ashley is.
Tram Car Room
-------------
With Ashley again, ride the tram car into a new segment of the castle. In the
new room, unlock the door and go through to the entrance hall.
Entrance Hall
-------------
You should remember this room from earlier in the game. Anyway, go forward to
the wall panel with the indentations. Insert the three ornaments you've found
and the wall will finally come down, revealing another passage. So, go up the
steps and into the new room.
Tram Car Room
-------------
In this second room with a tram car, ride it to yet another section of the
castle. When you arrive at the other end, go through the door.
Gallery
-------
In this open area, start by going into the smaller room to the right. There
is a Merchant in here, as well as a typewriter and the Shooting Gallery.
Leave the room and go down the east hall. Collect the YELLOW HERB, and the
SAMPLE REVISITED file. Then, go through the door and follow the path through
the halls lined with armored statues. Dodge them with the action buttons when
needed. At the end of the hallway, make Ashley wait there for you.
(Note: In the Japanese Easy and Amateur Versions, you do not need to acquire
the KING'S GRAIL. Therefore, you should skip the next paragraph.)
In the large circular room ahead pick up the KING'S GRAIL on the center
platform. As you do this, the doors will close and the armored statues will
come to life. To kill them, blast the armored head with a SHOTGUN and it'll
come off, revealing one of those giant parasites. It's best to hit the
statues as a group. Then, kill the parasites to destroy the statues. The
FLASH GRENADE is particularly effective against the parasites. Once you
kill the first three, a few more will come out. Kill those in the same
manner, and you'll be free to go. Have Ashley follow you again and head back
to the room where you picked up the memo.
Back in the first room of this gallery, go into the small south room to save
your game again if you want. Then, go into the far west room this time. In
here, there are 4 floor switches. Start by making Ashley wait on one of them.
Push the two statues onto two of the switches, then have yourself stand on
the remaining one. This will open the north door, so go through it. Inside,
you'll see Salazar face to face before he runs off, leaving you in a room
where the ceiling is falling on you. To stop the spiked ceiling from killing
you, there are a few flashing points to shoot. Shoot the 4 spots to stop the
ceiling.
Going through the open doorway, go down the hall to another room. When you
enter the storage room at the end, Ashley will get trapped in the previous
hall. Then, a giant drill piloted by a couple hooded enemies will break
through the wall, and will kill her if you don't stop it. Use your RIFLE to
snipe both of them, and get Ashley through the gate when it opens quickly.
Now, collect the ammo scattered in the room and open the chest to get the
QUEEN'S GRAIL. Then, shoot the lock on the door and go through; it leads back
to the floor switch room. Exit there through the east door, and you'll be
back in the main gallery room.
Now that you have both grails, take the north path. When you enter the main
hallway, you'll be faced with plenty of shielded and masked enemies. Clear
them out with your RIFLE and SHOTGUN, then continue to the far end. You'll
find 2 statues of a king and queen to the sides of the center door. Place the
KING'S and QUEEN'S GRAILS in the appropriate hands (in the Japanese Easy and
Amateur Modes, the KING'S GRAIL will be placed in there for you already),
and the door will open, so go through into a new area. Head down the hall
and then through another door to a different area altogether.
Novistador Room
---------------
In this room, go forward and one of those Novistadors will kidnap Ashley.
This means you have to fight a whole bunch of them in here. Kill them off
with your SHOTGUN, then when the room is clear, take a side path to a lever.
Turn it and the bridge will partially come down. Use your RIFLE to shoot the
chains holding it up still, then go around and cross the bridge, and go into
that room.
Outside Clock Tower
-------------------
In the room you appear in, you'll find the Merchant and a typewriter for
saving. Use both if you want, then go through the door ahead. You'll come out
at an outside portion of the castle, leading to the clock tower itself. As
you walk out, you'll be contacted by Salazar on the radio. After that, Leon
will use his binoculars to watch them carrying Ashley away ahead. When you
get control, start to cross the bridge and you'll watch as several catapults
are set up out in the distance. Run across the bridge and follow the path
going left around the tower. At the top, defeat some enemies and avoid the
fireballs being catapulted your way. Go around the tower and enter the room
at the back side.
(Note: In the Japanese version's Easy and Amateur Modes, the door into the
Clock Tower will be boarded up, so head to the right and follow the path
and use the gear to move the bridge, thus taking you to the next area.
Skip the Clock Tower area if you're playing that mode.)
Clock Tower
-----------
In here, you'll have nothing to do but climb upward to the top. Before you
start though, equip the RIFLE and aim upward. You'll see a few yellow boxes
clogging various gears (there are 3 total). Shoot them all out now, so you
won't have to later. Then, start climbing up the ladders until you reach the
very top. At the top, you'll find a table with the RITUAL PREPARATION file,
and a GREEN HERB. Up ahead is a lever; turn it and the gears will start
moving, causing the bridge outside to rotate so you can reach the area where
Ashley was taken to.
Now that you did all this, the clock tower will be flooded with enemies, so
beware. Start climbing down, stopping at each level to take out any archers
and other enemies in your way. Towards the bottom, be careful of the dynamite
thrower as well as more regular enemies. Kill them and go outside.
Outside Clock Tower
-------------------
As you go outside, you'll have to face a bunch of shielded enemies coming
towards you from the other side of the bridge. Kill them with your RIFLE (aim
high on the shield to head shot them). When you go onto the bridge you'll be
ambushed from both sides, though. To deal with this, turn around quickly and
take out the two enemies behind you, then handle the masses coming from the
other direction with your SHOTGUN and RIFLE if you need it. When the coast is
FINALLY clear, go through the door.
Main Hall
---------
In this rather large hall, you'll be faced with plenty of regular enemies,
but to make things that much harder, you'll have to deal with 2 Garradors as
well (only one in the Japanese Easy and Amateur Modes)! The way to deal with
this is to take out the regular enemies as quickly as possible, until the
Garradors run down to where you are. Just so you know, on both sides of the
room are side passages you can take to lose the Garradors following you.
There are also a couple bells you can shoot to further distract them. Anyway,
this will take a while, so be patient and snipe at their backs, then run, and
repeat until you kill them both.
If you somehow manage to survive this, the doors will open again, so head
through the top door. In the next room, go up the hall into yet another
chamber. In there, you'll watch a cutscene with Salazar and Ashley being held
captive. He will drop Leon into a pit, so pay attention and swing the Wii
Remote quickly to avoid certain death at the bottom of the pit. After the
next couple cutscenes, you will get control of him again in a prison of
sorts.
Underground Prison
------------------
Down here, check around the room to find some treasures, then go by where the
Merchant is. He has a pile including ammo and a YELLOW HERB, so be sure to
pick those up. You can also buy the STRIKER shotgun from him now, so do that
if you want (sell your old one to further fund the upgrading of the new one).
Also, if you don't have one, buy the ROCKET LAUNCHER NOW! When you're done,
save at the typewriter and climb the ladder.
Sewers
------
In this area, simply follow the path through the sewers into the next room.
As you progress in these passages, you'll see quick scenes of some monster
following you. When you come to a path split, head into the room to the
right. You'll find an elevator that is out of power, and some other random
goodies. Leave this room and make a right to continue through the tunnel.
This time though, you may have to randomly swing the Wii Remote to avoid
an attack from the monster that's been following you. Make your way to the
room at the very end of this tunnel, and go in it.
Head towards the back of this room (still dodging the monster) and you'll
find a control panel. Activate it and the power will turn back on, but the
door leading out of the room will close. Go to the door and try to open it,
but it won't budge. Now, that monster known as Verdugo will appear in the
room.
-----------
Verdugo
Found: Sewers (Chapter 4-1)
Strategy: When you first meet this creature you'll be in the control
room. Near the middle area is a liquid nitrogen tank; knock it
over and the boss will freeze up. Now is your chance to attack
it. If you have the ROCKET LAUNCHER, use it NOW to make this
quick and easy. If for some reason you do not (you should have
it if you've been following this guide anyway), head shot it
with the MAGNUM or SHOTGUN until it unthaws. When it thaws out,
run around the room until the door opens and find another
liquid nitrogen tank (one's in the hall, one's in a side room
to the west, and the last tank is in the elevator room) to
repeat the process. When you run out of tanks, you'll have to
swing the Wii Remote fast and/or move around to avoid attacks
while you continue blasting it with your weapon of choice.
After a long enough battle, it will be over soon if you're able
to avoid enough of its attacks and get in enough of your own.
Now, all of this could be avoided if you had the ROCKET
LAUNCHER, so consider that before even taking this thing on!
-----------
Once this creature is done, head back down the hall to the elevator room and
operate it to reach a new area. You'll witness a cutscene in the meantime,
revealing someone who looks pretty scary (you'll meet him soon). The chapter
will then end.

Chapter 4-2
===========
Mining Caves
------------
In the room where you end up, pick up some ammo/treasure scattered through
the room, as well as LUIS' MEMO 2. You also have access to the Shooting
Gallery, yet another Merchant, and a typewriter in this safe room. When
you're set to go, exit through the door. Follow the path through the tunnel,
stopping to kill 2 Ganados with torches along the way. Continue ahead, making
a right turn, and jump down to the lower area.
Down in this large mine-like area, defeat a whole group of Ganados, including
a dynamite-thrower that runs down to you. The best approach is to kill him in
the middle of the mess so the dynamite explodes, killing all of them in one
shot. When they're gone, go left to a machine you can operate. Using it will
cause the trolley to move on the tracks, eventually landing on an elevator
which will move down due to the weight. This also reconnects the wiring to
the power to the circuit breaker. So, go the other way and head up the stairs
to the top area, being cautious of the dynamite enemy up there. Use the
circuit breaker to turn on the power in the area.
After you do this, go back down and you'll see a chain saw enemy drop down
into the area. Clear him, and some more enemies will appear behind you. Use a
GRENADE if you have one to quickly finish them off. Then, operate the trolley
lever again to lower the dynamite-filled cart to the ground. Go around the
wall to access the trolley, and take some DYNAMITE. Now, go to the giant
boulder near that lever and set the DYNAMITE. Move back to avoid the blast,
then clear the remaining enemies and go through the door at the other side.
Grated Lava Room
----------------
In here, collect the goodies along the perimeter of the room, then head to
the opposite door. Two of the El Gigante enemies from earlier will pour into
the room, so watch out! To get rid of one of them quickly, run to the control
panel across the room and operate it; if one of them is standing on the
central platform, it will open up, causing one of the giant bosses to fall
into the lava and die. You still have to avoid getting close to the pit since
it can pull you in as well until it closes automatically.
As for dealing with the other El Gigante, handle it like you did early in the
game, making use of the ladder and zip cord above if necessary. Once you kill
it, go down the hall to the east. Break a couple barrels for some ammo, then
go through the door into a new area.
Spiral Cave
-----------
Go through the passage here until you reach the wide open area, which is
comprised of paths spiraling around the outside of the cave. There are plenty
of Novistadors flying around, so it's up to you to snipe them now or later.
Go up the spiral path to the first plateau, and you'll find a more level
platform that goes around the entire perimeter. There are two alcoves on the
west and east sides of this open area (check your map if you're having
trouble finding them). In each one is a switch; push the switch to make one
of the lights turn on outside. This will cause an onslaught of Novistadors,
but you can handle them with your SHOTGUN.
Once you hit both switches, the lights will burn a hole in a doorway,
revealing a gate at the top area. So, follow the inclined path to the top and
open the gate. In this next passage there will be giant blocks moving up and
down, in an attempt to crush you if you go past. Run through, dropping down
when necessary, when you can to avoid getting squashed. When you come to a
lever, use it, and go up the hill when it's safe. At the top, continue into
the last room. Collect the Royal Insignia and check the platform to ride out
of the cave. The chapter also ends here, if you haven't figured that out.
===========
Chapter 4-3
===========
Outside Ruins
-------------
When you ascend into this ruined region, go over to the nearby shack. Take
the LETTER FROM ADA from the door and go inside to find the typewriter and
yet another Merchant. Do what you wish here, then continue along the path
through the ruins. At the back end of the area, you'll find a bonfire and
several Ganados surrounding it. Toss a Grenade to clear them quickly, then
head to the southeast area. You'll find a shack there; jump into the window
and you'll see a crank. Rotate the Wii Remote repeatedly to turn it, opening
up a passage in the floor. Climb down into the underground area.
Underground Ruins
-----------------
Down here, follow the passage until you reach the large room filled with
Ganados and bear traps on the floor. Clear the enemies as you make your way
across the room to a building of sorts, with a ladder leading to the second
floor. Don't climb up it; instead go around to a door on the right side. In
here, you'll be faced with two chain saw enemies, so dispose of them quickly.
Upstairs, you'll find the KEY TO THE MINE, so take that. Clear the enemies,
or jump out the window to escape quickly, and head to the southeast side of
the room. Go up some steps and unlock the door with your key, then go inside.
Underground Mines
-----------------
In this next area, go down the hill to another room. In there, you'll notice
the ceiling is spiked, complete with four red switches for you to shoot at
when it starts coming down. However, as it comes down, two parasites will be
in the room and may attack, so watch out. If you want, QUICKLY get rid of
them with the SHOTGUN or a Grenade, then use whatever HANDGUN you have to
shoot the switches and stop the ceiling from falling. In the Japanese Easy
and Amateur Modes, the ceiling will not fall, so you can just move onto the
next paragraph.
When the door opens, go through to the next room. Head down the stairs and
hop into the train of 3 mine carts. Jump to the middle one and shoot the
lever to make them start moving along the track. Along the way there will be
plenty of enemies, including a couple chain saw guys, to attack you. Jump
between carts and defeat them all when they get too close. At various points
you will be told to swing the Wii Remote quickly to dodge an oncoming wooden
panel blocking the way. This will kill any enemies still standing as you
pass, which is good.
At the end of the track you'll be told to jump: do not miss this chance!
You'll jump over a pit while the carts fall down along with any enemies also
aboard. Swing the Wii Remote as quickly as you can to climb onto the upper
ledge, and you'll survive the mines. Go into the last room and collect the
STONE OF SACRIFICE. Now, go up the path and climb the ladder to exit the
mines.
Outside Ruins
-------------
You will emerge in the outer ruins again. Now that you have the stone, go to
the northeast wall and place it into the hole as the sacrifice to the lion
(it's behind the bonfire). Go inside and ride the platform upward, then the
chapter will end.

Chapter 4-4
===========
Giant Statue Room
-----------------
In the area you arrive at, go down the hall past a typewriter, to a large
room. Here you will see a giant moving statue in the likeness of Salazar. As
you go down the steps and cross the path in front of the statue, some hooded
enemies will pull the levers sinking those platforms. So, go back up the
steps you came (to the right of the statue) and climb the ladder. There will
be a couple enemies around for you to kill, so do that. When you approach the
edge where the statue's hands move up and down, you'll see many hooded
enemies trying to jump their way to you. Shoot at them when they are on the
hand and they'll fall to their doom.
Jump across to the center platform and operate the lever to make the other
hand move. Kill some more enemies as they jump onto that hand, then jump
aboard and then onto the far ledge. Drop down to the lower room and defeat
the red enemy before operating the lever to make the first platform reemerge.
Quickly kill the enemies that suddenly appear in the room with your SHOTGUN,
then climb back up the ladder. Jump onto the hand and ride it upward, and
then jump onto that ledge. Run around the path that goes behind the statue
and pull the lever there.
Now, go back to the ledge where you jump onto the hand, and use your RIFLE to
snipe the archers across the way, as well as any other enemies on the other
side. Then, jump onto the first hand and onto the second one when it moves
toward the middle. From there, ride the second hand to the opposite side and
hop onto that ledge. Pull the second lever here to raise the second platform.
Since you're done here, jump down to the bottom area and start to run up the
path in front of the statue.
As you run, the Salazar statue will come to life and start chasing you down
the corridor. This means you have to shake the Wii Remote repeatedly to run
from it. During this mad dash, several pillars will be knocked down onto you,
so you'll have to use A, B, then A + B together to dodge them all. When you
reach the end, don't waste any time; shoot the lock and go through the door.
Bridge
------
Don't think that you've lost the giant statue yet, since it'll crash through
the wall and continue chasing you. Keep shaking the Wii Remote, then when
prompted press A + B to jump over the gap in the bridge. You'll then have to
swing the Wii Remote some more to climb back onto the ledge. Now that the
danger is gone, head through the door.
Castle Tower
------------
As you enter here, there will be another cutscene with Salazar. There will be
a segment where you have to swing the Wii Remote to dodge a knife being
thrown at you. Following this, Salazar will escape and you'll have control
once more. Check around the room for some HANDGUN AMMO (x10) and a YELLOW
HERB, then start heading up the stairs. When you get the cutscene where the
hooded enemies are rolling barrels down at you, stop and aim with your RIFLE.
Snipe the enemies standing around further up the hill and then run up there
to where the switch on the wall is. If you use it a barrel will roll down the
hill.
Anyway, continue upward to the next plateau, then stop to snipe the dynamite-
throwing enemy ahead. Defeat the enemies around here, sending a barrel down
to take care of the ones coming at you from below (you'll see the cutscene
when that is about to happen). When the coast is clear, go to the top plateau
(the one before the GREEN HERB dead end) and head towards the elevator
platform. Push the 2 crates off the elevator, then hit the switch to start
riding upward.
During this trip, there will be plenty of red hooded enemies jumping aboard
to attack. This can be quite taxing on your ammo, so the best idea may be to
shoot them off the sides of the elevator, thus saving quite a bit of your
ammo (the SHOTGUN will be good for this). Along the way, there will be an
archer shooting at you, so try and dispatch them quickly. At the top of the
ride, walk off and follow the wooden path around the outside of the tower.
Jump over the pit and continue along the path, collecting some ammo and a RED
HERB in the corner. Step onto the last elevator and operate it to move to an
upper ledge.
Once there, head up the final set of stairs to meet the Merchant. Sell off
all your accumulated treasure and upgrade your weapons. Also, buy the ROCKET
LAUNCHER if you're interested in an easy boss fight ahead. Grab the ammo and
the FIRST AID SPRAY from the table nearby, then save with the typewriter.
When you're ready, go into the next room.
When you enter here, you'll witness yet another cutscene with Salazar. As
soon as it ends, you'll enter the boss battle you've been waiting for against
Salazar himself.
---------------
Salazar
Found: Castle Tower (Chapter 4-4)
Strategy: At last, you are pitted against Salazar in what turns out being
a rather epic battle. Of course it will seem to be very hard,
but it really goes quickly provided you have powerful enough
guns and can dodge the attacks. Basically, there are 2
tentacles which will swipe at you every now and then; you'll
know when since the action buttons will appear on the screen so
you have a chance to dodge. There is also ammo and herbs
scattered around the room, so be sure to collect those. As for
the weak point, the center appendage has a yellowish eyeball;
shoot it with your Broken Butterfly or Rifle a few times, and
the shell where Salazar's body is will open up. Be careful when
attacking the eye since there is a chance that its jaws will
open up and lunge at you, instantly killing you if you do not
dodge it! When you manage to expose Salazar, you have several
moments to unload your weapons on him. So, use your Rifle
zoomed in (or the Broken Butterfly if you have good aim) and
shoot the boss in the head several times. When the shell closes
up again, the cycle repeats and you'll have to attack the
eyeball again. After another few rounds of attacking Salazar,
you should be able to claim victory, seeing as your weapons of
choice should be powerful enough by now, assuming you've been
upgrading.
---------------
When the battle is done, drop down into the pit and break all the barrels
open to collect a ton of ammo. Climb up onto the central platform to obtain
the 50000 PTAs from the battle, then go through the door.
Castle Back Exit
----------------
Out here, cut open the 2 barrels and climb down the nearby rope to the lower
area. Then, simply go into the elevator shaft and ride it downward.
Castle Exit Tunnel
------------------
Down in this cave, follow the path into the safe room by the Merchant. Break
open all the barrels and collect all there is to be had in this room. Then,
upgrade some more with the Merchant and head through the door when you're
ready. Continue down that hall and you'll see a cutscene with Ada waiting on
board a boat at the dock. The chapter ends at this point, too.
===========
Chapter 5-1
===========
Island Outskirts
----------------
Following the cutscenes, you will have control on this seemingly quiet
island. Head up the peaceful path until you come to a split. Go to the left
and climb up a couple ledges to reach 2 barrels; cut them open for some ammo
and an EMERALD. Then, go back down and take the other path across the wooden
planks. As you round the corner, you'll hear Ashley calling to you, and it
will appear to be a base of sorts.
Before you continue though, use your RIFLE to snipe the searchlight high
above. Then, jump across and enter the first building you see. Defeat the
regular enemy inside, and as you head to the left you'll witness a scene with
the giant guerrila enemy with a machine-gun on his arm. Go back into that
building and climb the ladder, and just wait atop there for now. Shortly
after, the guy will jump up to that platform, which at this point you shoot
him in the head with the BROKEN BUTTERFLY (or any other strong weapon). When
he recovers, THAT is when you shoot again. If you don't act quickly, he'll
swing his head around before letting loose with his weapon.
After you clear this enemy, drop back down and wander around the area killing
off the other much weaker people. A new addition are the electric-sword
enemies, so watch out for them. Head to the northeast corner of the area by
the stairs and the closed door. Check the switch to the left, which causes a
laser light to shoot out to the first mirror tower atop the northwest
building. The idea here is to climb onto the roof of those buildings and
rotate the mirrors so the laser reflects across them and onto the switch to
the right of the door.
So, go to the northwest building and rotate the mirror so the laser points at
the next mirror tower. Drop down and run over to the other building, and
point that reflection onto the switch to the right of the door, and it will
open. Now, run up those steps and go through the doorway. Collect some
SHOTGUN Ammo from behind the sand bags, then follow the path until you come
to a point where 3 Ganados try pushing a boulder onto you. Quickly react by
swinging the Wii Remote to dodge it, then keep moving onward.
Be careful of the archer in this room as you enter. Defeat him and another
Ganado, then climb up the ladder to reach a new area.
Cliffs
------
In this area, go forward to the outer area and defeat the single Ganado you
find. Jump over the gap to the next ledge and watch out for the archer as you
go around the corner ahead; snipe the archer to make things easier. Go into
the side rooms to the right if you need extra ammo or herbs, otherwise follow
the path going upward. Kill off a whole slew of Ganados and electric-sword
enemies as you progress up the path. Atop the hill is a cart with an
explosive barrel in it; if you shoot it, it'll explode and this fireball will
roll down the hill, clearing any enemies in the way for an easy defeat. Check
the side passages going across the upper bridge to find ammo and a GREEN
HERB, then continue up the path. Hit the switch and go into the room.
Inside this corridor, you'll find the Merchant and a typewriter, as you would
expect. If you have the money, I recommend selling your BROKEN BUTTERFLY and
buying the KILLER7 as its replacement. Save your game here, then head up the
hall. You'll see several enemies and an archer above coming your way. Use
your RIFLE to quickly dispatch the archer and the line of enemies approaching
you, then run down the hall yourself. Go through the door at the end.
Kitchen Room
------------
Here, go down the hall while collecting whatever items you can find. At the
far end, go through the door and defeat the lone enemy inside. Check around
for some more ammo and a GREEN HERB, then go around the corner to a cooking
area of sorts. As you round the corner be ready since a person on fire will
jump out of the oven and run at you. Shoot at him with the HANDGUN for an
instant death. After the fires extinguish, grab a HAND GRENADE from the shelf
and go through the door ahead to the next room.
Prison Room
-----------
In this room, go forward and as you round the corner, load up your SHOTGUN
and blast the giant armored guy in the head. A couple shots will do it, but
be careful as his attacks are brutal! After he's done, you can enter a room
to the right, or you can continue downstairs to an optional room. There,
defeat another armored guy, an archer, and the shielded enemies that follow
you down there. Then, break the barrels in one of the alcoves to get a Yellow
Herb and ammo, and check the metal box for the RED STONE OF FAITH treasure.
Go back upstairs and enter the door to the side, which is presumable where
Ashley is calling to you from.
Security Camera Room
--------------------
In here, go around the corner and you'll watch a cutscene. You can watch what
the cameras are pointing at, which appears to be Ashley and a couple people
terrorizing her. You'll see the new objective on the map, then you get
control again, so head through the door to the left.
Hallways
--------
Head down the hallway here, checking the drawers for some ammo along the way.
In a room to the side, you can find a Merchant and a Shooting Gallery room,
should you be interested in either. You can now buy the TACTICAL VEST from
the Merchant, so if you have the money, this is what you must get. It'll
reduce the amount of damage you take.
Continue down the hall and you'll notice a gate opening across the room, with
a few dynamite-throwers hanging around. If you try to approach the gate it'll
slam shut, so you have to keep your distance. Use the RIFLE to pick them off
quickly when the gate opens, then pick off the archers that appear after they
are dead. Once you kill everyone, the gate will open for good, so run through
and collect the spoils.
Then, defeat the remaining enemies in that end of the room, and go through
the double doors to another safe room. There, go left and into a smaller room
where you'll find a typewriter for saving. When you're done there, go back
out and head up the stairs to the second floor.
Second Floor Hallways
---------------------
Up here now, follow the hallway going straight until you come to a split. For
now, go left and make your way into the following room. Continue onward in
the next area.
Autopsy Room
------------
You'll enter some sort of autopsy operating room (note the enemy laying on
the table; you'll have to dodge it soon). Head to the locked door on the
right side and there will be a control panel used in opening the door. To
solve this puzzle, you have to move the arrows around so there can be a path
leading from the top-left block to the bottom-right one. So, turn blue 1,
green 2, and red 3 times.
In the room you just opened, pick up LUIS' MEMO 3 from the left table and
check the back side of the room. You will find a FREEZER CARD KEY on the
floor in front of a dead guy. As you turn to leave, you'll hear something
open up outside, which turns out to be that Regenerator enemy in the autopsy
room. Run out of this room quickly while dodging this thing as you won't be
able to kill it right now unless you have tons of FLASH GRENADES or an
upgraded STRIKER that you fire at very close range. Exit this room.
Second Floor Hallways
---------------------
Run down the hall. Go through the door at the end to reach the next hallway
segment.
Back in the first set of halls, be careful as another Regenerator is roaming
just around the corner. Try to run around it, or blast its head with a
SHOTGUN to temporarily throw it off balance so you can run around safely. Go
through the door separating the halls, and head into the alcove to the right,
where the door looks to be frozen over. Use the FREEZER CARD KEY here and
enter that room.
Freezer Room
------------
In here, you'll find another experiment gone wrong on the table in front of
you. It won't do you any harm, so go into the room to the right where you'll
find a card rewriter. Using it will get you the WASTE DISPOSAL CARD KEY.
Also, use the controls on the back wall to turn off the cryogenic device,
which unthaws another door in this room. Check the other small room connected
to this chamber, and open the unthawed door by turning the wheel. Inside,
collect the INFRARED SCOPE for your RIFLE. Make sure you combine this with
your RIFLE IMMEDIATELY!
As soon as you get the scope, the freezer will become locked and a
Regenerator will come alive for you to fight. Run out of this alcove and head
to the exit door, and turn around to face the enemy. Regenerators have
anywhere from 2 to 5 parasites (Plagas) within their bodies, and you must use
the INFRARED SCOPE to find them (they appear as pink blotches, if you're
familiar with heat-seeking technology) and snipe them out. Once you shoot all
the parasites, the Regenerator will die instantly. Once you kill this one,
check around the room for ammo and a GREEN HERB (break the cabinet in the
back), then exit this room.
Second Floor Hallways
---------------------
Back in the hallway, you'll hear the heavy breathing of Regenerators again.
First, right to another alcove (where you have to go next anyway) and shoot
down that Regenerator. Then, go through the door separating the halls and
kill that one as well. Now that the hallway is safe, go to the west end of
the hall and enter the waste disposal room by using your key card.
Waste Disposal Room
-------------------
Go down the long hallway here to a control room at the other end. In there,
operate the crane, using it to pick up the Ganados and drop them into the
waste pit at the far right. After you pick off 3 of them, the last one will
run up to where you are, rendering the crane useless. Defeat that last guy
yourself, then run down the steps and through the red door. Follow the path
going up some stairs, and you'll come to a room with a YELLOW HERB. There is
also a switch on the wall, but you can't activate it just yet. For now, go
through the door at the opposite side of the room.
In this seemingly empty room, go around and you'll see 2 armored guys
guarding the room where Ashley is being kept. Defeat both of them, then talk
to Ashley who tells you she needs a card key of some sort. Go back a little
and enter the other room to the side.
X-Ray Room
----------
Here, go down the hall and through the door into an ambush room of sorts.
You'll have to deal with those electric-sword enemies, an archer, and a
couple of regular Ganados. Defeat them all and go down the stairs at the
back. If you check under the steps you'll find some SHOTGUN Ammo. Then, go
into the room to the right after you go down the steps. Go up the stairs here
and run down the hallway, where you'll find 2 doors to go through. The one
directly in front of you contains a typewriter, so save there first. Then, go
into the other room.
Research Rooms
--------------
In here, go forward into the following room, where you'll see a camera screen
pointing at a spiky Regenerator carrying a key on its body. That creature is
in the room to the right, so you don't have much time to hide from it. The
spiked Regenerators are to be dealt with in the same fashion as the regular
ones, but it has more parasites and the payload after killing it is more. In
addition to having 4 parasites on the front side, there is a final one on the
back. To get that one, shoot out its legs with your SHOTGUN (so as to save
RIFLE rounds), then hit the back one with your RIFLE as the enemy wiggles
around on the floor.
Upon killing the Regenerator, take the STORAGE ROOM CARD KEY off it. Then,
jump over the wall into the blue chamber, where you can check all around for
some herbs and ammo. When you're done, you can go through the northwest door
and run down a bridge, where the Merchant is located, as well as barrels you
can destroy to find a YELLOW HERB and ammo. You can also take the lift out
there to an area where you can find some more ammo. Either way, head back out
of the labs altogether when you're done.
X-Ray Room
----------
Back in this area, go down the hall and through the door, but be careful. In
the room with the stairs, there will be archers and regular enemies coming
down to get you. Try to kill everyone off quickly, while staying by the door
to avoid the archers. Snipe them off when you kill everyone else, then head
upstairs when the coast is clear. Make your way through the x-ray room and
exit through the door atop the next set of stairs.
Waste Disposal Room
-------------------
Back up here, head up the hall and use the STORAGE ROOM CARD KEY to enter the
room.
Storage Room
------------
In this safe room, follow the path around the room to find Ashley cowering in
the corner. She will reunite with you, and the chapter will end.
===========
Chapter 5-2
===========
Storage Room
------------
You will immediately regain control of Leon at this point, with Ashley now in
tow. Collect the SHOTGUN Ammo and as you leave the room, a paper airplane
will fly in through the window. Check it to read the PAPER AIRPLANE (duh)
note from Ada. After this, leave the storage room.
Waste Disposal Room
-------------------
This time around, the room will be flowing with enemies, so it may be best to
have Ashley wait at the door behind you for now. Round the corner and defeat
the armored enemy along with the others, then take Ashley across the room and
down the hall. Go through the door at the end of the hall. As you enter this
next room, you'll be walking into another enemy attack. Dispatch everyone
quickly (if you have a GRENADE, it will help here), then hit the security
switch on the back wall. This will open the door, causing some more enemies
to pour in. Kill the archer and the others, then after they're defeated, go
through that door and continue down the hall. Go through the red door at the
end.
Now that you're in the dumping room where you used the crane earlier, walk
over to the pit edge. You'll watch a cutscene where the two of you drop into
the trash pit, only to land below in a pile of trash, not to mention a non-
functional Regenerator (for now).
Garbage Dump
------------
Down here, operate the nearby lever and the Regenerator behind you will come
to life. Defeat it quickly, then operate the second lever further into the
room. Have Ashley help you push the metal box into the gap, and cross over.
Move along the back of the room collecting the GREEN HERB and RIFLE AMMO
here. At the left side of the room, there is another Regenerator walking
along the hall. Kill it and run across that bridge to another doorway blocked
by a metal box. After pushing the block aside, go into the next room.
Wrecking Ball Room
------------------
In this room, defeat the armored guy by blasting his head when you have a
chance. Then, go forward and kill the rest of the enemies that advance from
the back. Follow the hallway going up some steps, collecting all the ammo and
the GREEN HERB on the way. When you reach the ledge where you can jump down,
have Ashley wait at the top, and only you drop down for right now. As you go
forward, you'll see a whole slew of enemies pouring in from both sides, so
run across to the control room and operate the controls. Doing this will
cause the wrecking ball to start breaking down the debris blocking the door.
You also have a ton of enemies, including 2 armored guys, and various other
enemies coming from all directions, so be ready. When you have a chance to
break free, call Ashley to you since enemies will eventually capture her if
you don't.
When you can, operate the controls to swing the ball again (it should only
take a couple tries) until the door is clear. As soon as it's cleared, go
through that door!
Hallway
-------
Go down the hall here and use the lever to open the gate, where you'll spot a
Regenerator coming your way. Kill it and continue down the hallway. You will
encounter a second Regenerator, so be sure to destroy it as well. Feel free
to enter the 2 rooms connecting to the hall on the sides, for some extra ammo
as it will always help. You have to enter the side room on the left side
though, for it has a switch for you to press in order to turn on the
auxillary power for the gate. Go back to the hall and you'll see a partially
open gate at the end. Have Ashley crawl under and open it for you via the
other side.
Now that the gate is open, continue down the hall and pick up a YELLOW HERB
at the end. You can enter a room to the side, where you'll find a Merchant
and the typewriter. Save here, then go back to the previous room. There is a
large door with a switch on each side of it. To do this, have Ashley wait at
one of them, then have Leon check the other switch. You'll have a countdown
before the middle light above the door turns on; that's when you have to
press A to pull both switches at once. Do it right and the door will open, so
head into that room.
Flatbed Ride
------------
In this room, collect the items you can from the boxes, then climb onto the
back of the truck in front of you. Ashley will take over as driver, leaving
you on the back platform to take down any enemies heading your way. For the
first part, face the back end to shoot down enemies as they run towards you.
After a while of fending off the bad guys, a truck will start careening down
the path in an attempt to crash into you. Shoot at the front grill to stop
the truck for now. Continue defending yourself and the truck will soon chase
you down again. Shoot the grill a second time and it'll explode once and for
all.
Soon after, you will enter an elevator area where the truck stops, and Ashley
tells you to hit the switch for her. Jump off the back and climb up a ladder
to the upper catwalk. Defeat the enemies up here quickly and
